Hill designed a new 88,000 square feet warehouse distribution center to consolidate many satellite storage locations at one central facility in order to improve inventory control. The new facility increases reliability and quality of service to all National Grid customers in three adjoining states, and provides a more efficient, modern and comfortable workplace. Major project challenges included permitting and presentation meetings in two towns and storm water management for 14 acres. In addition, Hill designed an "old mill style" facade on a pre-engineered building to conform to the zoning bylaws for the Blackstone National Heritage Corridor.
The project includes private offices, 81,000 square feet of indoor warehouse storage, storm restoration facilities, six-bay roof canopy for truck unloading, cross-docking facility with nine truck doors, 12 acres of yard storage, and a 300 KW standby generator.
